SCRAMBLE FOR THE GOLD!!!!
July 18th Results
Knoxville, TN
Sensational!!!!
Nearly 200 fans huddled around the ring for the most important TXW Wrestling show of the year. SCRAMBLE FOR THE GOLD proved to be a sensational event that the fans won't forget for many years to come. The show opened when the tag team of Ruff Cutt confronted the new commissioner, David Branson, about stripping the titles from them when they were suspended. Although Mike Powers threatened physical violence against David Branson, he stood strong and told Powers and Rivers the show must go on like planned, and if they want to regain their tag team titles, they will have to win them.
#3 Position Match
Funkmaster V vs. Bob O Mac w/ the Lovely Beth
Before the match began, Bob O Mac brought Beth to the ring and announced to the crowd that tomorrow would be their one year anniversary, and he wanted her to be by his side. Funk blindsided Bob O Mac, but Bob quickly turned the tables and lit up Funk with his lightning fast offense. Funk was able to knock out the ref, and stave off Bob O Mac successfully pinning him several times. Beth entered the ring to help, but Bob O Mac interrupted her and pleaded for her to leave the ring. After he tried to force her out, Beth slapped Bob O Mac and yelled, "Don’t tell me what to do!!!" Funkmaster hit Bob with a chair, and applied his Figure Four on him. Beth woke up the ref and the ref called that he was knocked out.
Winner by KO: Funkmaster V
#4 Position Match
Jerry Lee vs. Maskerade w/ Monroe Fayte
The former TXW Heavyweight Champion came out hot and heavy, laying in heavy chops and clothelines, but Maskerade, along with some underhanded tactics by Monroe Fayte, was able to continue his hot streak by reversing the famed Jerry Lee clothesline and turning it into a Flatliner for a surprising upset.
Winner by pinfall: Maskerade
#5 Position Match
Demetria vs. Dwayne Windham w/ JK Nelson
In one of the best matches of the night, the controversial Demetria took on the training school graduate Dwayne Windham. The action went back and forth, but youth overcame beauty (I guess) to snag the 5th position in the scramble.
Winner by pinfall: Dwayne Windham
#6 Position Match
Robbie Race vs. Bobby Blassie
The crowd was really up in arms over Robbie Race, the Ruff Cutt enforcer was boo'd more than anyone of the night. Bobby Blassie came in dancing and actin' a fool, and was able to score a pin over the Big Gun in one of the most entertaining matches of the evening.
Winner by pinfall: Bobby Blassie
#7 Position Match
Mike Powers vs. Jody Rivers
It was obvious that the tag team known as Ruff Cutt was only half-stepping in this match- their own version of a protest to the new Commissioner. The crowd started booing, and David Branson came out to ringside to threaten them with a suspension if they didn't pick it up. Moments later, Powers let Rivers pin him for the 7th position. Winner by pinfall: Jody Rivers

TXW Heavyweight Champioship Title Shot Match
Menace vs. Justin O’Day
These two tremendous talents fought over the right to take on the TXW Heavyweight Champion at the next show. This match was chopped full of athletics, flips, reversals, and balley-hoo as Menace was able to score the 1-2-3 over the former UWA Heavyweight Champion to tremendous applause.
Winner by pinfall: Menace
SCRAMBLE FOR THE GOLD
This match was nuts, and would be impossible to summarize accurately in a short paragraph. The last two Heavyweight Champions, Billy Marshall and Chris Cameron started out, with Funkmaster V hitting the ring (along with the lovely Beth!) at position number 3. After Marhsall chokeslammed Cameron and Funk applied the Figure Four on Chris, Marshall tried to climb to get one of the briefcases. Funkmaster, confused by the betrayal, pulled Billy down, and the two hosts of TXW Main Event started tearing into each other, setting the "free for all" precedent for all combatants. Every two minutes, another superstar entered the ring, and it wasn’t long before it appeared that no one would be able to climb the turnbuckles to get a brief case without someone slamming them down.
The highlight of the match was a 7 man tower, where Jerry Lee and Billy Marshall powerbombed Funkmaster V and Chris Cameron, who belly to back suplexed Bobby Blassie and Bob O Mac, who suplexed Maskerade. Oddly enough, Maskerade lowered every briefcase off of the hooks, but lost it in the ring to someone else before he could hit the floor... namely: Dwayne Windham, Demetria, Robbie Race and Bob O Mac.

The remaining 8 men participated in a Battle Royal for the final briefcase, where it appeared that Maskerade had won, but the ref stated that Billy Marshall never hit the floor. Billy then blindsided Maskerade and dumped him over the top rope for the 5th briefcase.
The first briefcase was opened by Dwayne Windham, who won the Tag Team Championship. He got to pick his partner, and he claimed he wanted the biggest and baddest wrestler at TXW. JK Nelson, his friend and fellow training school graduate flexed his muscles and smiled, but when Dwayne picked Jerry Lee, deflating his friend, but energizing the crowd. Dwayne was at the point of tears, and explained to Nelson that they were still brothers, and they could still accompany them to the ring.
The second briefcase to be revealed was Billy Marshall, who claimed that he knew that he had reclaimed his TXW Heavyweight Championship. David Branson then opened the case and revealed that he had won the Pink Slip! Billy Marshall has been fired! The crowd went crazy! Billy then started knocking out everyone in the ring with the briefcase, Demetria, Chirs Cameron, referee James Malenko and Funkmaster V! TXW officials then said it was not safe to reveal any more briefcases, and they will unveil the other winners on the TXW Main Event TV show on Thursday nights at 9:30PM
